Many years ago, Chahir’s great-grandfather held a prominent position in the Egyptian treasury. At that time, one Egyptian piaster was equivalent to 40 para, a smaller denomination of currency. Due to his leadership role in the treasury, Chahir’s ancestor earned the nickname “El-Parati,” which eventually evolved into the current family name, “El-Barati.”
